Lately I've been having a sore throat, trying to get rid of it, not sure if the tea I'm drinking is making it worse. Been drinking a lot of darker tea mainly Pu-Erh, Earl Grey, Lapsang Souchong, and Ceylon. So - if anyone can tell me if those would be bad for my throat - or if they know of a specific tea good for it (beyond mint tea), I'd greatly appreciate it!

Fenugreek tea (icky but coats the throat exceptionally well). Also, there are teas at the health food store that my daughter loves "Throat Coat" being her fav.. If I can get a 3rd grader to down a cup it can't be all that bad, plus Traditional Medicinals (the brand) has kid variations so you don't hit them with the full adult dose.
There is a herbal remedy store in the city where I live where my stepmother used to get "Sore Throat" tea. I'm not sure everything that was in it, but I know it contained Slippery Elm and Marshmallow. The guy selling it would instruct you to gargle with the first mouthful, then swallow it down and the drink the rest normally. It did seem to help quite a bit. Maybe you could make your own concoction using those ingredients.
